Overview of Unit

Although the structures and functions of cellular organelles will be review, it is essential for your study of a variety topics learned in this course.  For example, you will later be relating these concepts to the functions of human body systems as well as their role in the functioning of systems in plants.  This unit begins early in the year with a project.  As a class, Biology 2 students will be creating a larger than life model of a cell to help educate Biology I students about the functions and structures of different cellular organelles.  Each student group will be assigned one organelle on which to create an audio or video tour.  Sophomores will be able to view your presentations via the iPads as they tour the cell.

During this unit you will also be studying a variety of tissue types.  This will be done in a more traditional way using microscopes and learning to distinguish between the structures and functions of various body tissues.
